By Kelly Olson, Executive Director, Texas Wine Growers

Texas wine isn’t just delicious. It’s driving billions of dollars in economic impact across our state.
In July 2025, WineAmerica released the results of its nationwide Economic Impact Study of the American Wine Industry, produced in partnership with John Dunham & Associates, a leading economic research firm. This comprehensive study confirms what many of us have known for years: Texas wine matters: to agriculture, jobs, tourism, taxes, and local communities.
As a proud member of WineAmerica, Texas Wine Growers is sharing the findings far and wide, and encouraging Texans everywhere to use this data to advocate for the future of our industry.
The Big Picture for Texas
According to the 2025 report, the Texas wine industry generated $24.39 billion in total economic impact, supporting more than 136,000 jobs and contributing over $3.44 billion in tax revenue across federal, state, and local levels.
Let’s break it down:
• 617 wine producers and 14,034 acres of vineyards call Texas home
• 2.64 million tourists visited Texas wine regions
• Wine tourism generated over $503 million in local spending
• The industry paid $7.4 billion in wages
• More than $1.7 billion in federal taxes and $1.74 billion in state and local taxes were collected
Wine isn’t just a drink. It’s an engine of growth, jobs, and rural vitality.
Real Jobs. Real Businesses. Real Impact.
From vineyard crews to tasting room staff, label designers to trucking companies, the economic ripple effects of wine touch nearly every sector. The report shows this clearly.
People across Texas are employed in industries like:

• Finance, compliance, and creative services
Wine is the ultimate value-added product. It preserves open space, boosts tourism, and brings people together, all while powering the economy.
